Dinner tonight was at a place Hubby has begun referring to as “a pirate’s favorite place to eat…” – yes, he may be losing his mind now that he has to get up early three days a week AND work late on Wednesday nights! But, as we are headed for the airport very soon to pick up Snickers (‘cuz what else would I ever call her?) who is flying in tonight from Denver with her hubby (Felix – as it “Fix-It” from Wreck-It Ralph), her daughter (Witt – ‘cuz it’s kind of close to her name) and one of her sons (Taz – ‘cuz that’s the nickname my girls have known him by for some time), we needed a dinner that was quick and easy… so it was roast beef sandwiches and curly fries for everyone tonight. Did that help you figure out that a pirate’s favorite place to eat is Arrrrr-by’s? (I know, groans all around…)
I am so excited for Snickers and family to get here as it has been almost 10 years since we’ve been able to have them over at our house! The last time was for Thanksgiving dinner in Oklahoma City in 2003… we have been able to see them a few times since then, but it’s hard to hang out when we live so far apart now. They will be here for only a short time, and we will try to fit in as much catching up as we can along with the obligatory visit to the Mall of America (you really can’t come to Minneapolis and NOT go there!).
Today was a busy working day with a break for coffee with The Musician (The Boss’s wife) while Loo Hoo played with her little ones. It was fun to get together and to get out of the house for a while – looking forward to doing it again soon.
Hubby and I made a big decision about the future of our mini-van today; we’ve decided not to replace the part of the power steering system that is leaking – that means the days are officially numbered on that vehicle. Guess it’s time after 176K+ miles and the cost to do the work really outweighs the benefit now that Hubby has his new truck.
Tonight, Loo Hoo and I downloaded a new coaching app for our phones – miCoach – and headed out for a run around the neighborhood for our initial assessment. The short story is – we failed the assessment! We were supposed to start slow and gradually increase our intensity. Well, we started too hard and were not able to increase along the way – so, the virtual coach (Reggie Bush of the Miami Dolphins) informed us after 20 minutes that we would need to try again tomorrow! UGH… The good news is that we did run/walk for 1.5 miles in about 20 minutes… can’t complain about that.
Well, the pop-up on my computer just alerted me to the fact that I need to leave in 20 minutes if I intend to be on time when Snickers and family land at the airport… time to find my shoes and round up the family! Looking forward to a fun night of catching up and lots of laughs!
