We are packed and checked into our airline for our flight home tomorrow afternoon! It’s been a great vacation. We ended on a big note with Magic Kingdom in the morning and Blizzard Beach in the afternoon (highs were near 80 today!).
Magic Kingdom opened at 9 a.m., and, believe it or not, we were in the parking lot by 8:30. After a quick monorail ride around the lake, we got to the gate right as the opening ceremony kicked off. It was fun to see Mickey and his friends pull into the Main Street train station and dance and sing to open the park. The crowd was pretty light this morning so it was very easy to make our way through Main Street and into Fantasyland. We rode Winnie the Pooh, did some shopping and pin trading, and then headed for the Tea Cups. We got there at the exact same time as Alice and the White Rabbit who rode in the tea cup right next to us!
We took time this morning to get pictures and autographs from Alice, Terrance (Tinker Bell’s friend), and Ariel and Price Eric. We got fast passes for Jungle Cruise and then headed for Pirates of the Caribbean. On our way there, Captain Jack Sparrow and his first mate were looking for apprentice pirates to practice sword fighting. Without hesitating, K-Cat volunteered to be one of the four kids that got up on stage in the middle of the street! She was, of course, awesome and, after a brief sword fight, she delivered her line right on cue, “Look! It’s Black Beard’s daughter!” To which, the first mate she was fighting with turned away and she was able to run to the edge of the stage successfully escaping the battle! She was rewarded with a certificate of participation and a bunch of photos taken by the Disney photographer on our PhotoPass. Another word of advice for those headed to Disney, take advantage of the PhotoPass! It’s a great way to get a lot of pictures of your visits with characters and of your whole family together at the Disney “landmarks.”
After riding Pirates, we headed back to Tomorrowland for Carousel of Progress and The Laugh Floor one last time before calling it a day and leaving to find lunch. We decided on Cici’s again and everyone filled up on pizza, brownies, cinnamon rolls and salad. We then dropped Hubby back at the timeshare for a nap while the rest of us changed into our swimsuits for an afternoon at Blizzard Beach – a great way to beat the heat! It was close to 3 p.m. when we got there, and we stayed until they closed at 5 p.m. It was fun to ride the waterslides and lazy river and to lay out in the sun one last time knowing that the temps in Minnesota will be in the single digits when we get home!
When we got back to the timeshare, Hubby had already started cleaning and packing! He took the younger girls, who had, for some strange reason, not had enough time in the pool, off to swim in the timeshare pools while Jay Pea called Boyfriend and I parked myself on the couch to read my book for about an hour!
After swimming, K-Cat remembered that there was a magic show at the resort activity center so, as none of the other girls wanted to go, she and Hubby headed off on a little date. From what I hear, it was a pretty good show, and Hubby even got to participate in one of the tricks. With those two, I’m not surprised!
It was then time for all of the girls to hit the showers. Hubby and I headed out to pick up dinner – McDonald’s drive-through for Doodle (chicken nuggets) and Chick-fil-A drive-through for everyone else (nuggets, sandwiches, and a chicken wrap).
After eating, it was time to get down to some serious packing! I don’t have a picture of my pins tonight as they are already packed away. There is a Blue Fairy (from Pinocchio), Koda (Brother Bear), Kermit the Frog, the Matterhorn in Disneyland, Mrs. Potato Head, and the Mickey coffee cup. The good news is that by 9:30, we were done. I checked us in online for our flight, and we have been able to spend the rest of the evening watching TV, playing on the computer, and hanging out together in the timeshare.
I’m pretty sure that I’m not ready for the cold tomorrow, but I am ready to see our friends again, play with our pets, and get back to our normal routines! It’s been a great vacation!
